Woman Spreads Ebola Virus One Year After Infection, Eclipsing 21 Day Incubation Period

According to an Associated Press article, a Liberian woman may have infected three relatives a year after she first fell ill, over 11 months after the commonly sighted incubation period of three weeks. There has also been previous instances of men spreading Ebola to women after more than a year but this new case is the first instance scientists have confirmed that Ebola was spread from a woman after 21 days.

Over 500 illegal immigrants from Ebola stricken South African nations have crossed the border from Mexico in recent weeks but mainstream news media has dismissed any threat of the virus spreading by pointing out the 21 day incubation period and highlighting the migrants months long journey from Africa to Brazil and across South and Central America to Texas.

“Since June 4, approximately 250 individuals from Central Africa — some from Angola and some from the Democratic Republic of Congo — have come to San Antonio,” said Texan Colleen Bridger, interim assistant San Antonio city manager and metro health director.
